The white area around between the "R" and the the red area should be main coloured. The 4 rings should be main coloured as well.

Yes but in my opinion not for both areas.
In the real part, which has a white background, the parts you indicate are not painted. But, since we give the possibility to color the torso as you want, in my opinion it is better to fix the rings in white.
In this way even if I change the background, the Audi logo remains of consistent colors (with the red background you would not see anything, with the yellow background it would be a non-real color combination).
For the area around the R, since there are two different colors to separate and it is "impossible" to color the main part in red or black (you would lose a lot of details), the two areas will still appear separated by a border and that border does not seem important that it is white.
