There is a problem with this part: if we put 2 of them 20ldu apart (distance when connected to body, and/or stuck on adjacent studs), toes overlap. Could someone with part in hand tell us how it works IRL?

I don't have him in my hand, but this picture is pretty good:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/grogall/Lego-SW-2010/8095/g_8095_detail_5_hr.jpg

I think the outside surface of the "toe" should be of equal lenght as the inside surface.
Now it is longer. The front surface of the toes should be at right angle to the side surface.
And the toes are rounded, not pointy.

Shouldn't these parts also be subparted differently to allow colouring in two colours?

We already have a "Minifig Mechanical Leg ..." part (53984), so I think this should be named "Minifig Mechanical Leg [qualifier]".

I'm not sure how to name the qualifier in the description... suggestions?

All of the objections above still stands and the current subfiles can't be used to create the patterned versions.

This 2011 LDD mesh is so flaud that a complete rework is needed.
There is better version at Digital-brick from 2015. I've started a complete rework.
