I segmented the lantern into quarters.

I tried to put condlines there to avoid ugly triangle artifacts in LDView, but the lines would appear under certain conditions.

What's the better solution?
Introduce additional vertices to avoid those long triangles in favor of more rectangular shapes?

I think that the best solution fy far is to make intentional use of t-junctions, like this:

That said, in your initial solution, it seems that the condlines appearing at the wrong incidence comes from badly chosen control points.

I agree.
Apart from bad condlines it already works very well i LDCad, with long thin triangles.
Don't just look at it in LDView.
