I can't find any pictures of this shortcut, with a differently coloured centre part.
I think it is enough to have the c01 shortcut with all three sections of this shortcut uncoloured.

Damn, should have been a type-1 :-(

Plenty of them about, although I agree it's hard to find a clear photo online.

Is there some sort of misunderstanding here?
All my objections are made against the COLOUR of the centre section, and all your explanations talk about the SHAPE of the centre section.

I don't understand your objections, then.

There are two centre-types. The type-1 exists in milky-white (c02) and light-grey (c03). The type-2 exists in light-grey (c01).

OK,
but do they exist with a mix of light grey centre and dark grey ends?

This part has only come in color 7 and 71 for the ends and 7, 71, and milky white for the center.

Why is this so difficult to get a grip on?

How do you plan to change 3712c01? You said it's in Admins mailbox.
I want to know why we need shortcuts with the centre part in Grey (7).

Today we have:
3712c01 Type 2 in uncoloured (16) *
3712c02 Type 1 in Milky white (79)
3712c03 Type 1 in Grey (7)

If we decide to add the colour in c01 and keep c03 as is, we need to also create:
3712c04 Type 2 in Light Bluish Grey (71)
3712c05 Type 1 in LBG (71)

Wouldn't it be better to only have one shortcut of each type, with all three parts uncoloured?

*( 3712c01 need an update anyhow. The centre part is a Move to-part).

For the same reason we have shortcuts for most other multi-coloured composite parts - for example 3680c01 and 3680c02.

For this part:
...c01 will be updated to have a light grey type-2 centre: this has gone to Chris for submission
...c02 has a milky-white type-1 centre
...c03 has a light-grey type-1 centre

I agree that we would also need a ...c04 with a LBG centre (this would be type-2, and as to the best of my knowledge the type-1 never came in LBG we wouldn't need the ...c05 shortcut). I wasn't aware of the joint coming in this colour until recently, hence the lack of the shortcut; I'll get one submitted in a bit.

The turntable comes in a multitude of colours, in both old and new gray. Thats why we need to have two shortcuts.

I'll have to ask this again. Does this part exist with mixed colours, or is the only exception the milky white one?

c01 should stay uncoloured, and use Type 2 center part.
c02 is OK since we have parts with Type 1 in a different colour.
c03 should be made uncoloured, and use Type 1.

There is no need for a c04 or c05 if the joints are monochrome.

I'm starting to get confused. Can we move this to the forums where we can use pictures? Plus, the forum is a better place for debate.
