Why do this part use tooth16.dat instead of tooth24.dat?
Could/should it use the subfile s\2740s01.dat?

The tooth type is definitely correct, the part's teeth look are the same as gear 16's. The teeth are more angled while gear 24's are more smooth and curved. However the teeth are causing gaps and t-junctions because they don't align with the ring properly. We can't fix this without replacing the ring with quads.
