A quick reference to the candidates for the 2009/2010 LDraw.org Steering Committee election. The information is drawn from posts on LUGNET and corrections are welcome, please email the webmasters.
Per the LDraw.org Bylaws, Subsection 6.03(a), the 2008/2009 Steering Committee
hereby calls for the community to nominate individuals as candidates for the
2009/2010 Steering Committee[1].
It has passed more than a year since the last election of the LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) were held – also because the SteerCo has missed the actual deadlines. Nominations are now open at LUGNET. All nominations must be received and recorded by November 14. Elections will be held from November 17 ‘til November 30.
The LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) is responsible for maintaining semi-regular internal discussions on pending file format issues, the overall progress of the LDraw file format and new or proposed developments made by different LDraw-based software authors. They adopt new official standards by voting on them, and publish documentation on LDraw.org following such a decision. The LSC has documented and will document past, current and future LDraw File Formats.
The voting for the October 2008 contests is now open.
Visit the voting page to cast your vote.

The LDraw.org team are pleased to announce progress towards restarting the regular publication of Parts Library Updates. The complete library has been re-issued with all the file headers now compliant with the new Official Library Header Specification. An important element of this re-issue is the identification of part files that are not re-distributable, having been created or received major contributions from authors who could not be located or who did not affirm the Contributors Agreement.
In addition to separating the parts that are not re-distributable, we have taken the opportunity to separate two additional classes of part files and make their installation optional in a new Windows installation package.
The Alias Parts Library includes generic colour versions of parts that are physically identical to parts in the core parts library, but have a different part number.
The Physical Colour Parts Library includes hard-coded colour versions of parts or composite parts.
The Windows install package for the new library can be found on the
Library Updates page. Work is continuing to make this available for Mac and Linux users.
I'd like to thank everyone on the LDraw SteerCo and LDraw Standards Committee who have helped to make this happen.

The LDraw Steering Committee (SteerCo) has been questioned about LDraw.org's policy (as expressed by the Contributor Agreement, other documentation, or tradition) on third parties capitalising on the considerable volunteer time, effort, and ingenuity represented by the part library and the LDraw system?
We've a new round of models and parts in our MOTM contest. Have a look at
the voting page and cast your vote!
