The LDraw Administration Team proudly presents the third RACHAL – The RAytraching CHALlenge to spur people's creativity and show different interpretations of the same source material. Please note that this is not a contest! All entries will be added immediately to a gallery [4] at LDraw.org to be shown but not voted.
RACHAL - The RAytracing CHALlenge
RACHAL 3 - Polar is the third RACHAL run here. Past ones are RACHAL - Atmosphobic [5] and RACHAL - RACHAL Impossible [6].
The Model - Polar
Anthony Sava has kindly provided us with the current entry. He has provided models for his Polar Express [7] train as well as some background scenery like characters and trees. While similar in some ways to Atmosphobic this time we have a large scene to capture which presents its own challenges. The 'real' scene is similar to that from the illustrated book "Polar Express" and film and is a snowy night so if you're stuck for ideas maybe you can dig one up.
All entries will be displayed in the Polar gallery [8].

This challenge will run until Saturday the 30th of September. All entries to the challenge must be in before 6pm GMT on that day.

Further RACHAL rules
The majority of rules are standard and are included at the contest rules [15] page. However, as each challenge is different we include the following special rules and clarifications.- All entries should contain the file RACHAL_Polar_<initials>.jpg containing a picture of your entry. <Initials> should be the submitters initials. If submitting multiple entries please append a number to the initials eg. RACHAL_Polar_tg1.jpg, RACHAL_Polar_tg2.jpg etc. PNG format is also acceptable.
- It is very much preferred if all entrants also submit a file RACHAL_Polar_Files_<initials>.zip containing files that can be used to recreate the scene (see the main rules [16] for details).
