I don't like the "SW" abbreviation in the title.
See my rant on that at

To be analog with other Star Wars torsos, I think this one also should have letters "SW" in title.
Like this: "Minifig Torso with SW Clone Stormtrooper Pattern"
We have today 22 official files with that naming scheme.
I think that we have a very strong example to follow here.
Do I hear an objection from Steffen?

yes, because we just replaced the "SW" by "Star Wars" in other parts.
we went the vice versa direction there.
The background is that, following the "SW" principle,
we could start to abbreviate "Harry Potter" as "HP",
and "Technic" as "T", and "Fabuland" as "FL" or something.
The various themes IMHO do not deserve an abbreviation.
And although the "SW" is quite widespread already, it is something that we should stop. In the majority of the parts, there's space enough
to spell out "Star Wars" properly.

to allow storm troopers to wear different colors than white,
I suggest that this file should use color 16
instead of hardcoding everything.

I think that this part is white from the moulding,
and then the rest of the pattern is printed onto it, right?
then the white portions of the pattern should be color 16.
this will allow the user to use a different moulding color.

So, if I read your comments right, this file could have "SW" in the title.
I mean that the 22 official files set a very strong example, and should be followed.
Any new parts (not beeing a torso) can have "Star Wars" written in the title.

I'm holding for the two holes, back and front, still present in this part. Why are they there?

On the colouring issue I agree. The white sections should be colour 16.
But OTOH, isn't all Stormtroopers white?

Is this even a Stormtrooper? Peeron and Bricklink refers to this as a "Clone Trooper"

Is there any comprehensive summary of all the trooper patterns somewhere?

(holding for the above issues)

I think that all currently official files having "SW" in the title should get renamed to use "Star Wars" explicitly.
The acronym only got out in the wild unnoticed and has established itself as an - in my eyes - unlucky de facto "standard".
It is of the usual "acronymitis" disease.
Would we follow that example, as said, we would have to use the Harry Potter parts "HP" and so one. I see no use in doing that, except for
that the titles look "nerdier" and are "for insiders only who know the acronyms". Expanding the principle even further: would you like
to get Fabuland parts have "FL" in their title?

I agree with you that as long as we don't have the currently official "SW"-minifig torsos here on the PT, this file could keep its "SW" for systematics, but I would by far prefer to get all the official SW torsos here and rename them.

No, I don't want to rename any parts.
SW is established as a very clear acronym for Star Wars, especially
together with theme specific words like: rebel, imperial, stormtrooper or Han Solo.
HP or FL is not.
My only point is the systematics. They should all look alike and sort together.

I'm sorry, but I have to hold this design. I can't verify it.
I think it is this:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb510
If so, it is missing two things, the belt buckle and the things in the big square on the back.
It could be an explanation to the holes, left in the design by Eldar.

There is also some variants of this design:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb503 (with orange details)
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb760 (with larger orange details)
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb759 (with green details)
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb968 (with light blue details)

Is the name correct? "SW Clone Stormtrooper"
At Bricklink they are known only as "SW Clone Troopers"

Any ideas on how we could solve this? One common subfile, or many different?
