There are two versions of this box - with and without the studs

"I would put a ~ in front of the title"
I don't think so, can be used alone.

in that case, x449.dat should also again lose its ~.
either both parts should carry one, or none IMHO

No, 'cause x449 has no use by itself (no studs, bar or other connexion points)

Why is this part made upside down?

I also dislike that.
Imagine inventories etc..
There, it always will look bad.
Reason is probably the studs of the underside
which are placed here in their "natural" orientation ("up"),
but I think we should make an exception here and re-orient
this part correctly. The strange usecase of using it for building
is not worth showing it upside down in inventories IMHO

I really think we should show this part
in its real-life orientation, not upside down as it is now.
The advantage that the studs are on top is SO small
compared to the disadvantage of inventories looking SO strange.

oriented box right-side up.
this makes it show up "properly" when users use the default
image of this part e.g. in part lists.
the exotic usecase of using this box for building of course still
is possible, but the studs now are at its bottom.
we here exceptionally deviate from our normal "studs on top" rule.

The inner surfaces of the short sides protrude through the base of the box.

Is a problem in the subfile not in this file.
