the part name should reflect that
this wheel has "riffles" (?) where it contacts the rails.
there exist also variants without.

This wheel is not conical but cylindrical.
"Conical" needs to be removed from part name.
Additionally, "old" is not very descriptive.
There exists only this *one* variant having riffles, so the name

"Train Wheel with 4 Studs Riffled"

would be much more descriptive IMHO

I just noticed that this part has the same name as
http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/x245.dat
so this part's name is probably just a cut-n-paste error

"Traction Teeth" is also a good alternative for "riffles"

What is the difference between this and x447?

There's gaps showing at either end of the cylindrical section, which don't show on x447.

Also, probably should add some BFC info.

Could make use of my new tri3A primitive.
Also may want to use high res primitives to lessen gaps.

This version has 56 teeth and the other one has 58?
Does anybody have the actual part to verify the teeth count?

I took some digital photographs of several actual parts and counted the teeth on the images (which is easier than counting the teeth on an actual part).
All 6 parts I've checked have 55 teeth.
So both versions are wrong, unless there have been different moulds with different amount of teeth.

thanks, Chris. I spotted that glitch when systematically looking at
http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptreviewsummary.cgi?f=trainwheels

all the remaining problems of that collection are trivial,
but they still need to be solved.

we need to resolve the x444 and x447 duplicates issue

I believe that only one version should stay.
Also Bricklink has only one version 'wheel1a' (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?q=train%20wheel)

x447.dat should stay. IMHO.
