they have been taken over from 4209p70s.dat,
where DATHeade had distorted them.

there, the history was

0 !HISTORY 2004-11-14 [changed] origin, orientation and color
0 !HISTORY 2004-11-15 [created] orange subpart

. I corrected the history lines syntactically while taking them over to here by using [?]

I was able to recover the history from the PT
and restored it as far as possible.
It may be the case that it gets removed on initial official release.

QUESTION: why had the change of color 25 to 462 done at that time?
the original review of s/4209p70s.dat which led to that change was:

Color 25 not allowed in part files.
Use 462 instead (only with linetype 1, since this is a dithered color)

I fear that the usage of 462 only had to be necessary because
at that time subfiling of orange still had been required.
this no longer is the case, so should 25 be allowed here again?
if not, why not?

Entry for category is missing.
Do you have seen that on the 1 x Y bricks the white stripes are also below this shield?(http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3010pb009)

yes, I saw that. the current pattern implementation here seems to be wrong. I think this can be corrected when the parts get updated to use this file.

I never understood why subparts need a category.
They are not an entity on their own, so why should one
categorize them?
The only category that comes to my mind here would be "Pattern".
If this category does not exist yet, we should create it IMHO.
Other categories like "Brick" do not make sense here at all IMHO.
