Maybe the middle stop is too thick? you may put two 32174 side by side with an axle2 in the middle, so the stop is necessary very thin (difference in real axle2 lengh compared to theoretical 20 ldu length).

Practically I agree it doesn't make much difference in the LDraw model since in that configuration the axle2 will have to enter the matter of the stop anyway...

That was my thoughts when modeling the stop. The axle 2 will go through the stop no matter how thin I make it. And I used X=1 in other ball sockets as well..
