This part could use much more/better prims. -> cylc and boxes.

This edge is too long:
2 4 -36 26 44 36 26 44
It must be split several times, because the little triangles are directly connected to the "big flat" surface, where the hinge is placed on AND the hinge itself has a flat connection to the inner area. If I count correctly it must be 5 smaller edges instead of this one.

If you need help with the primitives just ask.

I've replace as much as I was able to do.

Feel free to tell me if something else is possible.

I did not exactly what I expected. Anyway, you removed a couple of t-junctions. :-)
Please use a box4o8a.dat and a recte3.dat primitive for line #16 and #17 to avoid the these edges:
2 14 -14 26 44 -16 26 44
2 14 14 26 44 16 26 44

And please delete the edges of line #90 and #91:
2 1 -32 26 44 -30 26 44
2 1 32 26 44 30 26 44

I'll cert afterwards.

Where you talking about using box primitives for the 45 deg orientated sides?

I can still try to improve.

Yes, I was. But it's possible that this will result in little gaps due to rounding errors. It's OK like it is for me.
Only the edge problems must be solved.

@Magfors: could you be a bit more precise on "Rectifier, Box-primitive" so I can continue on improving the part?

If I run this file through Rectifier it replaces 84 lines with 20 rect-prims,
and many of those could be replaced by box-primitives.

I can't see why a solution like this should result in gaps.
1 12 48.5 48 28.5 -1.5 0 -4 0 -6 0 -1.5 0 4 box3u2p.dat

And I just noted that these two box-prims create duplicated surfaces inside this transparent part.
1 4 -8.5 33 50 0 0 -5.5 0 7 0 -2 0 0 box2-7.dat
1 4 8.5 33 50 0 0 5.5 0 7 0 -2 0 0 box2-7.dat

OK, there are more box prims now.

About the duplicate surfaces, I did it like that to fill the gap that was there before.

I don't really know how to do this properly as it will be the intersection between a cylinder and a plane. What do you suggest?

I'm not sure, but I think it would be better to avoid large areas with "conflicting" BFC information.
Reduce the height of the box primitive and add single edge lines instead.
Or maybe a rect-prim and two small triangles.
