The edges (lines and faces) dont attach exactly. They are overlapping.

Check with LD-View and blackened edge-lines.

While I don't think it is a fatal error, I do think that this would be much nicer if the ends of the belt had a little more curvature.

Also, there should be optional lines around the outer surfaces on the ends.

- MANY bowtie quads
- part name should not be starting with theme-specific "Town..."

I already an improved version of this file, but I'm waiting for a part renumber: 43903 is a modern, 20 elements versions of this tread. The 28 elements tread you just hold has design number 71965.

Do you have a better suggestion for the name?

Part description needs some discussion. "Tread" means the patten applied to the surface of a tyre - this is really a belt (with 28 treads). There is no perfect category either - "Vehicle" would be better than "Car".

please see http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/x498.dat

comparing the two, I think
- the origin of both doesn't match, I think one needs to be repositioned

removing hold: this part is not the faulty one, it's x498.dat.

to verify this, check the orientation of the majority of all
"Wheel..." and "Tyre..." parts as well as

I'm sorry, I confused the numbers of this part, 71965.dat
and x498.dat.

x498.dat is okay, this one's misoriented

the numbering is wrong IMHO.
this is just one way to form this part.
in other cases, we created ...c01 files for that purpose:
53992c01.dat
53992c02.dat
53992c03.dat
680c01.dat
71735c01.dat
x486c01.dat
so, even if the LEGO part number of this is 71965,
it should be ...c01, because there are other ways to form it.
71965 then can become a redirect to the c01.
maybe in future someone wants to create a differently formed
usage of this, so that will be c02.
