The part is fine with me, but
please turn it 180 around the y-axis, otherwise it is not visible, that the part is open.
You say it is a simplified version - do you mean the "round corners"
The pictures in the internet aren't very well. So can't see how this is done on the real part. I'm not sure if there should be a "needs work" in the description, due to it's simplification.
And I see, that there is a pattern version of this part, too. So you could could create a subpart without this face. (Like I did with your slopes)

this part should get retitled IMHO.
we usually title parts by their form and appearance,
not their use in a specific moeel.
for example, this can be not only an airport tower,
but also a big fishtank. or, used in black, a big piece of coal.
thus, i suggest we find some title involving for example 1 or more of the words
-truncated pyramid
- inverted
- support

of course, "airport" etc can go into the keywords.
and if this part has a dominant default color, you can also specify that
using the ! CMDLINE -cXXX command

I suggest:

or:
"Duplo Slope Brick 6 x 6 x 4 Inverted"
I think "windscreen" is better since it also tells that one side is missing,
and this part is, so far, only made in trans plastic.

I agree that the name needs to be different from the current. Airport and Tower should go into the keywords, as you can use this quite different. The Airport Tower is only one official use of this part.
