Hmm, this is interesting. The Stegosaurus set's box art features a
picture of this brick with the Power Functions logo. If LEGO truly
considers this part as a Power Functions one (though the colour
scheme sure is off!), I'd say that a Power Functions mention should
be included. I'd be for PF keywords.

imho something identified with a LEGO design number is a part. Of course we could create a part with color 16 used either for top or for bottom - but which one to choose?

I'd say the bottom, as there are two design IDs with the difference only being the top. The problem would then be if you would want other coloured leds than Trans-Red or Trans-Yellow, my suggestion to that would be to make the Cruciform Screw and Button Cell subparts into real parts - it'd even make sense! You can have a button cell and a screw on their own, can't you? You would then have a !HELP section detailing how to make custom LEDs.

This would rise again the question what we call a part in LDraw System of Tools. I know there has been that discussion in the past on the light brick 2 x 4. But I can't find in the moment the thread on Lugnet. It seems that this should be worded in an official document (task for the LSC). Otherwise we will have such a discussion again and again.

Not sure about orientation.. I rotate this 180 degrees around Y to have the bulb visible.

I'd rotate this, I mean. I'm not touching anything in this part. :)

I have no firm conviction about orientation of this part. If you feel it's better the other way please do it... But in that case don't forget 62930!

I think that we need a color 16 version of this part in some way,
and we should make the existing variants
54869.dat
62930.dat
physical color shortcuts of that

type IMHO should be changed to "shortcut",
in analogy to the "wheels + tyre shortcuts"

- the header has a stray 00
- is it correct that in the current implementation the LED is no longer colored?

There is no difference in how this file coloures the LED. It was clear (colour 47) in the old file aswell.
But I don't know enough about them to say it is correct. Do a yellow and a red LED visualy look the same? Just emitting different coloured light.
I can see that 62503.dat has a light yellow disc in it. Is that correct?
