Maybe it would be better to have the ground at y=0?
What do you say?

Normally I could object against having this part,
because LDRAW is a parts library, not a models library.
However, I like having this assembly shortcut,
because this way a user of the bike part
can easily see how to position the minifig.
Maybe a "_" should be prepended to the part name on release?

I think the use of subparts in this shortcut is very unfortunate. It's a clean file for sure, and straight to the protocol I guess. But it provides no template example when a user wishes to make a bicycle + rider with custom colors. And the very existense of a shortcut file is justified by it's helpfulness. Now, the user has to open and view both c01 and c03 to achieve a custom color model. If we keep these subpart references, I suggest we add all !HELP lines needed, one for every sub-part.

I agree with you.
I suggest to inline 4719c03.dat into this file.
I anyway don't see a reason to have both
THIS file AND 4719c03.dat hierarchically put one into another.

this file currently follows a different strategy than
http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/30187c03.dat
there,
- the minifig has color 16 - we should do the same here
- the subfiles logic is different - sorry to have to come back to that issue. there, there is
- a c01 with the bike alone
- a c02 with the driver alone
- a c03 with the bike plus driver

the strategy followed here is
- a c01 with the bike alone
- a c02 with the bike plus driver

the c02 here serves as an illustration how to position the minifig.
if an author really wants to use the fig, he anyway has to use
his own colors, patterned parts etc., so he as well can take
care of the subfiling. so I like better the approach to have just 2 shortcuts:
- the bike without rider
- the bike with rider
as it is done here.

we need to answer the following questions:

1. shall the minifig be of color 16?
or should it instead use exemplic, placeholder colors?

2. unify the current c01, c02, c03 logic of

30187c01.dat / 30187c02.dat / 30187c03.dat
4719c01.dat / 4719c02.dat / 4719c03.dat
x900c01.dat / x900c02.dat / x900c03.dat
