Low resolution/mixed resolution didn't look good to me with all the intersections. Can change to (Needs Work) and complete low resolution version of sub-files if really necessary.
Kept only be one really thin run of polygons on inside sphere for symmetry with the outside sphere and between the outside flat edges at y=-20 and y=-23.

I suggest removing "Cylinder" (which appears absurd to me)
from title and instead putting it into a !CATEGORY.
Leading spaces are missing before each of the "3"'s

I find it very annoying that these two parts are made with different resolution.
One with hi-res(48) and the other with lo-res(16).

1 47 0 29 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 44358.dat
1 14 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 44359.dat

btw, which is the correct common rotation point?

I found that the standard lo-res detail, especially around the stud holes on 'top' looked awful.
I do think the cup that these often go with needs to be hi-res too having seen it, it's very blocky.
I don't think 44358 should have same origin as the sphere halves.
The origin of this would be a rotation point, where 44358 would be placed as a plate or tile would.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, I think the origin of both files are OK.

Were, in y-position, should I place this part, to have them positioned correctly, relative to each other?

I had a look into 44358 too. It's a twelve sided derivate from LDD.
Even lower resolution, than our 16-sided primitives. It needs a redo.

no worries, I misunderstood - I can add a !HELP for placing a set of these - I considered a shortcut, but as a lot of uses rotate the ball off of the orthogonal axes, didn't think it would be useful.

I can take a look at 44358, a mixed resolution should work for that as the only curved intersections are at the seam with the tile, and the end of the expansion cuts.

I would like to see the origin at the top area. so it is easy to connect with studs and axles.
