There is still some slight misfits in the side bent tube (probably caused by rounding errors) but you have to look at the part with insane magnification to notice that...

We should name this better! Currently I do not have a suggestion, but we have always used descriptions that do not depend of the usage in models.

The "gaps" on this picture:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b334/MMR88/LDraw/44136b_zps0bd16427.png~original
are not gaps. They're three bfc inverse slim triangles. Two on one side and one on the other.

I find the origin questionable, perhaps it should be in one of the pinholes at the back?

I had a look at BIs, no definitive benefit to either origin, so I suggest to keep this one, aligned with 2 directions of attachments.

Alright then.. there's still a few hairline gaps as some quads don't meet with the cylinders properly: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66055976/2014/LDraw/44136-1.png

Similar problem on the underside.

OK.
Closed gaps by inlining some rect-prims and used Unificator.
Used Rectifier on the result. Removed some t-junctions.
Made it smoother by increased decimal accuracy in DATHeader.
Hope it works better.
