I'd like to see the bristles modelled round like the LEGO piece but I'm willing to accept this part's simplification

Are there two versions of this part? All the examples I can find have squared-of bristles without gaps between.

The bristles on the real part are not round at all -- the inside/underside is a smooth box (like box5.dat), the outside bristles are squared, not round. This is not an improvement on this part file.

This part is still modeled wrongly IMHO.
The parts I have seen in reality did not have each bristle
on the underside as an own box,
but instead had one rectangular bottom box on which
the bristles were attached as "ribs".
However, have to confirm that with real parts.

OMG, my submit comment loss.
if the real part has each bristles as own box, the part will be breakable.
I am waiting for opinions. мнени

It seems we have to split up this part into an a and b variant.

I just found this picture
http://www.flickr.com/photos/95492938@N00/2127998741
of the "b" variant where each bristle on the underside is
an own box.

However, I remember from my childhood that an (older) "a" variant
also exists where the bristles are just ribs of one big, large
bottom box. However, have to confirm that.

No, that's just a trick of the light :-)

There is only a single box, *but*: each bristle's tip protrudes above (or below...) the box.

You are right, on zooming in on the photo mentioned above
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaptainkobold/2127998741/sizes/o/
, you can see that there is just one box
and the bristles protruding.
Well, then this part is currently really wrongly modeled:
each bristle is an own box - appears wrong to me.

The Commandline should be removed. This part appears in Reddish Brown since a couple of years.
I will try to find a real part of this in my collection, that I can try to fix the mentioned issues.

According to this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaptainkobold/2127998741/sizes/o/ ) picture it should not be too difficult to put an additional box between the current teeth.

I did started to messure this part. The angle of 25 degrees is wrong. It must be 22.5 .
I'll try to rework this part with the new angles and measures.

IMHO there is something wrong with the history of this part.
In my official parts is only a version of in 2000.
And the comments on the PT start in 2003. Can somebody confirm, that there was really a second official release in 2008?

The part was basically licensed CA after the author agreed to it and was then released in 2008 with the relicensed update.
