should use new header syntax http://www.ldraw.org/article/398
especially the "uncomment" would be the ideal for the new !HELP meta

I would rather have expected the origin at the straight end
of the curve, not at the wavy one.
Can someone convince me that the current one is good?

I think with a "(Needs Work)" this could be released anyway;
I don't want to be too nitpicky on a part as complex as this

just noticed that also when viewing the teeth
at the wavy side closely, there is a blood red BFC gap

I can not see what you are claiming.
But I see some regions are not BFC'ed and at the end pieces there are visible gaps.
Can somebody confirm?

I don't like the current choice of origin here at all.
Carrying it over to here from the large curve part is a wrong decision IMHO. Instead, IMHO it should be at the front of the straight end,
like it is correctly done at
http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/2678.dat

I can follow Bernd's decision for this part and it's counterpart. Additionally the comment from Philo I think we should go with it like it is.

I think it is a Bad Habit (TM) to treat unofficial parts
more and more as being official.
This makes the PT unflexible and counteracts its purpose of
editing and correcting parts.
Whoever wrote tools outside which rely on unofficial parts
should have provided a local copy of them and only use that copy.
Referring directly to unofficial parts on the PT is a Bad Idea (TM)
in my eyes.
As for this part the origin choice is IMHO not ideal
but bearable, we can keep it as is.
