The current orientation of this part is vertical.
9L, means to me, a "9 stud long part in a horizontal position".

How about "Animal Bird Wing..."? Why not just "Wing..."

I wondered too... but "wing" is used almost exclusively for wedge plates (only exception beeing 30231) so I think it's better this way.
