About this entry:
The render is almost identical to my example render so nothing particularly complicated there (my usual settings). Almost everything else is done in GIMP.
- After generating the render I loaded it into GIMP and duplicated the main image as two layers.
- I then ran an edge finding algorithm over the top layer and edited out a few extra lines that came from rendering artifacts.
- I then made the layer into a multiplying mask so that white areas of the edge-mask image left the beneath image unchanged while black ones were overlayed by the lines.
- Next I ran a posterising algorithm over the lower image and reduced the number of colours to about 20 (can't remember quite how many).
- Finally I added the text and a friend then added the surrounding white line in Photoshop (GIMP is terrible at text effects).
Not much of interest to renderers but hopefully this gives some ideas how to make some added interest afterwards.
