Dear contributor to the LDraw System Of Tools,
we would like to include your program in our new LDraw.org All-In-One-Installer, to be published by LDraw.org. You might have already agreed to a similar permission in the past but the LDraw SteerCo's concern is that the permissions have been sent to a personal mailbox and do not have a common wording. The permission template comes in two versions:
* Third Party Permission for a group of authors
* Third Party Permission for a sole owner of all copyright
Please pick the one that suits you most, print, sign and return a scanned copy of the permission.
Many of you will have noticed that recently LDraw.org has been serving pages sluggishly. The main bottleneck appears to be our host's server memory. The Peeron admins want to bring our speed back up to what we all expect and to do this they need to upgrade the server’s memory.
Thankfully, the main server can support additional memory. To double the amount of memory available, Peeron will need to pay a $400 upgrade fee.
Peeron currently gets over 350,000 visitors each month and another 100,000 to LDraw.org. This is more than three times the traffic Peeron.com had when they switched to this server 2 years ago. Hopefully with this upgrade we’ll be able to continue this growth!

Over the past couple of years releases of new official parts have been
less frequent than in the past. LDraw.org would like to apologise or these
delays and explain the reason why.

It has been a year since the last election of the LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC). Nominations are now open at LUGNET. All nominations must be received and recorded by July 15. Elections will be held from July 20 until July 25.
The LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) is responsible for maintaining semi-regular internal discussions on pending file format issues, the overall progress of the LDraw file format and new or proposed developments made by different LDraw-based software authors. They adopt new official standards by voting on them, and publish documentation on LDraw.org following such a decision. The LSC has documented and will document past, current and future LDraw File Formats.
In the effort to formalize the initial proposal for the LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) into a final draft, a call for public discussion has been posted at LUGNET.
The MLCad.ini file has been updated accordingly to the latest LDraw.org parts
update 2005-01. The .ini file defines the parts available in MLCad's minifigure
generator.

Most of the language support packages have been upgraded to MLCad 3.20.
The files are provided by third party developers and you'll find them on their
personal websites.

Rotating a group of parts in MLCad using its rotation point feature can be quite laborious: you have to enter co-ordinates, names, might deal with different points or tweak the exact position on-screen...
This tutorial will show you an alternative, more visual approach to rotate a group of parts around a common self-defined rotation point using a helper part created for the purpose. Check it out at:
http://www.holly-wood.it/mlcad/easyrotation-en.html
The tutorial is based on MLCad 3.2 and targets newbies as well as power-users.

Here is a high-resolution version of the PCS/Piranha dogfight animation made by Anton Raves and James Reynolds. The animation is also posted on the G4TechTV Screen Savers' web site. It was made using Anton's POV-Ray library (not LDraw parts), and rendered in University of Utah's Mac lab using Xgrid. Click the image to play:
