Read this after you have read "Getting Started"

Step 1

Step 1a: System Requirements

LDraw requires the following:

Mac OS 8.6 to Mac OS X
Approx. 40MB hard disk space
16MB RAM or higher recommended

Step 1b: Download the files

  1. unix-complete.tgz [3] - 4.3 MB (approx. ? min at 28.8)

Step 1c: Install LDraw and the Parts Library

  1. StuffIt will decompress the file you downloaded and create a folder called "ldraw". Move this folder where ever you like. If you share your computer with others, but you don't want to share the LDraw folder, you may want to put the ldraw folder in "/Users/yourname/Library/ldraw". Otherwise, a good place to put the folder is "/Library/ldraw" (which will require admin permissions).
  2. Don't change the location of the ldraw folder. When you first run your LDraw applications, they will ask where the ldraw folder is located. If you change your LDraw folder location after you run your applications, you may need to delete the preferences for the application to get it to ask where your LDraw folder is (this applies to old versions of the editors).

Step 1d: LDraw Installation almost complete.
To finish installing LDraw, you need to download an editor (the next step). If you have experienced any problems or have any questions at this point, please refer to the LDraw Help Desk [4] or the discussion group at lugnet.cad [5].

Return to Get Started: Mac Users and proceed to Step 2 [6]
