Step 1a: System Requirements
LDraw requires the following:
MS-DOS or Windows 3.x, 95/98/NT
Approx. 15MB hard disk space
4MB RAM or higher reccommended
Step 1b: Download the files
- ldraw027.exe [3] - 987 KB (approx. 9 min at 28.8)
Save this file on your C:\ directory or in the location you want the \ldraw\ directory to be created. We strongly recommend you save it directly to your C:\ drive (not under any directory), because it creates a directory \ldraw\ underneath the directory where the install file is located. This will automatically cause your LDraw directory to become C:\ldraw\.
- Download the latest LDraw.org Parts Library and save it to the same location as ldraw027.exe on your hard drive.
complete.exe [4]
Step 1c: Install LDraw and the Parts Library
- To install LDraw, click the Start button in Windows 95/98/NT and select Run. In the field, type 'C:\ldraw027.exe -y.' A dialog will pop up and it will display itself extracting the necessary files. When the program is done running, close the window. Repeat this for complete.exe, and key in 'C:\complete.exe -y' to install.
- Now you need to create your parts list. To do so, click Start>Run again and key in 'C:\ldraw\mklist.exe.' When it asks to sort by number or description, key in 'D' for Description, then wait for the program to finish and close the window.
Step 1d: LDraw Installation Complete!
Your installation of LDraw should now be complete. You do not need to run C:\ldraw\ldraw.exe to continue. If you have experienced any problems or have any questions at this point, please refer to the LDraw Help Desk [5] or the discussion group at lugnet.cad [6].
