It is our great pleasure to introduce ourselves as the first elected LDraw.org Steering Committee. Over the past few days, we have been settling into our roles, doing housekeeping, and orienting ourselves to the tasks ahead. (click the article title to expand this text)
Per the Bylaws, we have chosen our three officers; Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. They are:
- Chairman: Tim Courtney [4]
- Secretary: Larry Pieniazek
- Treasurer: Kevin Clague [5]
We are now prepared to move ahead on organizational business. To give you an idea of what you can expect from us this year, here are some things we want to get done:
- Resolve Parts Library and original LDraw licensing issues by working with the Parts Administrators and the Jessiman family. This will allow for more simplified and streamlined distributions of LDraw parts and software in the future.
- Work to improve communication amongst Organization members and build a cohesive community around LDraw.org that is active in discussing user, developer, and organizational issues.
- Work to improve relationships with other community sites, especially those which host part databases and catalogs, to cooperatively synchronize efforts.
- Continue structuring volunteer efforts on the web site to enhance the information already offered, with a focus on usability and accessibility to necessary info.
...and many other important items.
