Model of the Month

1949 John Deere Model A

Cale Leiphart
February, 2003

Cale writes about his model:

This is a model of a 1949 John Deere model A.
This is a wide front version or AW meaning the front tires are spaced far apart as opposed to the regular narrow front version where the front tires are tucked under the body in a tricycle configuration.A total of 300,000 model A's were produced from 1934 to 1952. In its final form it produced 38 horse power, had 6 forward speeds, and cost $2,400 new in 1952. Despite being out of production for 50 years many model A's can still be found today working on farms across America.

The logos on this model were produced using Carsten Schmitz BMP-2-LDraw32 utility to convert .BMP files to .DAT's I then edited out any polygons surrounding the logos and placed them with just a small amount of space between them and the model so they wouldn't cause any bleed through when rendering. However this cuased a shadow efect in the POV rendering that I edited out by hand in the .BMP file
