It has some little problems but it is still under development.
At first the program didn't run at all, but (for me) I figured out how to get it up and running with help from the programmers website.
First, I run XP service pack 3
Second, I installed .net framework 2.0
Third, I installed the web version of the latest directx drivers ( I already had 9.0c )
I must note I have a nvidia gpu, because it seems to have troubles with ATI-cards.
I rate this program a 7 because some work needs to be done, and the learning curve, but it has great promises for the future and it's truly worth a try!

It is the spiritual successor to Lego Digital Designer — except for the minor problem that it has absolutely no spirit. This software does not run at all without throwing hordes upon hordes of non-fatal exceptions, and the occasional fatal one. Virtually every single feature was broken when I tried it on both home and work machines. At home, I couldn't even get it to display the editing viewport, whereas at work none of the editing features seemed to work. I was presented with a pretty (though not particularly well-organized) toolbox of parts, with no idea whatsoever how to manipulate them. For all the features the author claims this software has, I witnessed none of them, nor did I witness any documentation describing how to use them.
I rate this product a three (3) because of the effort that went into it (and the fact that the toolbox actually does work), but I rate it a zero (0) for functionality. Should there come a time when an experienced programmer with a solid understanding of .NET and, more importantly, proper exception handling takes over this project, I will gladly give it another try and reassess my experience. Until then, you're better off sticking with what works. As much as I cringe at MLCAD's utilitarian design and distinct user-unfriendliness, SR 3D gives me night terrors. Thus, I walk back to it with a bit of chagrin on my shoulder. Better luck next time. |
