Printer-friendly page
This page outlines the procedure for uploading image files to the website. Please follow these guidelines, and refer back to them if you are unsure of the proper procedure. You can leave comments below if you would like to discuss points of the procedures.
Uploading Images
To upload images to the site, use the Gallery module. The link is located at the top of the left menu, above the News section.

The Gallery is subdivided by "albums," which represent the different topics on the site. Place your images in the appropriate album. For topics that read like "Community > Events," the appropriate album would be the "Events" album *within* the "Community" album.

Always create a new nested album for each page you are uploading. Often times images are specific for one page, and it will keep the gallery more organized (especially over a long period of time) if each article on the site has its own unique nested album for its images.

  • Create this by selecting "New Nested Album" on the album page (where it displays the contents of the album you have chosen).
  • Use the same name for the new nested album as you are using for your article.
  • To name your album, navigate to it and select "Properties," and change the name from the dialog that pops up.

You can upload images to the gallery individually, or using a ZIP file, like Brickshelf. Select the "Add Photos" (plural) link and Gallery will open up a pop-up window providing you with 5 upload fields. Add your photos by browsing your hard drive via the form.

Image Formats
All pictures must be in JPG or PNG format, with the following exceptions:

  • All site icons and site related images must be in PNG format
  • Animated GIFs

Referencing Uploaded Images
To reference the images you uploaded in an IMG tag,

  1. Navigate to the image's gallery page by clicking on it.
  2. In your browser, right-click (or hold and click for Mac) and select "Properties."
  3. Find the images's absolute URL on the server, it should look something like: http://www.ldraw.org/gallery/album20/download.png
Placing the link above in an IMG tag will look like:
