William is currently a member of the LDraw Standards Committee (LSC).

Name:
William Howard (Username: WilliamH)

Age:
Year of birth 1965 - so work my age out for yourself ;-)

Gender:
Male

Location:
Petersfield, South Coast, UK

History with LDraw:
In 2001 William stumbled across Jennifer Clerk's web-site and created his own version of her mini-excavator. Before dismantaling it he decided to document it and discovered LDraw and MLCad. He's not sure he'd recommend a 700+ part Technic model, with many rotated parts and (at the time) missing parts from the palette, as an introduction into the world of virtual LEGO though!

Being a train commuter, William uses LDraw/MLCad a lot to design and plan models. It's a lot easier than taking a box of loose bricks on a train, however, you probably get the same number of odd looks! To him LDraw is a means to an end as most of his virtual models make it into ABS format.

William has authored a number of parts (including the "Onion Dome"), review several hundred, and in June 2006 launched a personal campaign to dramatically reduce the number of held parts on the LDraw Part Tracker. William is also the author of a Java application to browse the tracker in a configurable hierarchical format. In 2006 he was elected to the LDraw Standards Committee and re-elected in 2007.

Related interests:
For many years William was a Computer Consultant specialising in eCommerce web-site design and implementation. Still working in the software industry, William now specalises in cross-media publishing.

William got back in LEGO building with Technic sets, but now spends most of his time building Castle and Town. He organises the annual Petersfield LEGO Show and edits the club magazine for The Brickish Association.
