The LDraw Administration Team proudly presents the second RACHAL – The RAytraching CHALlenge to spur people's creativity and show different interpretations of the same source material. Please note that this is not a contest! All entries will be added immediately to a gallery at LDraw.org to be shown but not voted.

RACHAL - The RAytracing CHALlenge

RACHAL 2 - RACHAL Impossible is the second RACHAL challenge run here. For some history you may wish to check out the first one: RACHAL - Atmosphobic.

The Model - RACHAL Impossible

This time we have cunningly created a scene which will force an interior render. There is plenty to play with in terms of media and effects and entrants are encouraged to change what Ethan sees on the computer screen. After the great entries for Atomosphobic it seems certain we'll see some high creativity. All entries will be displayed in the RACHAL Impossible gallery
RACHAL 1 - Atmosphobe
This challenge will run until Saturday the 30th of June. All entries to the challenge must be in before 6pm GMT on that day.

File downloads

The following files are provided for download. The first is the MPD for the scene, second is the unofficial files used in the entry but not included in the MPD and the others are an example entry made by Tim.
RACHAL_Impossible.MPD (Atmosphobic MPD file)
RACHAL_Impossible_Unofficial.ZIP (extra unofficial files)
RACHAL_Impossible_tg.png (Example entry image by Tim Gould - Shockwave)
RACHAL_Impossible_Files_tg.zip (Example entry files by Tim Gould - Shockwave)

Further RACHAL rules

The majority of rules are standard and are included at the contest rules page. However, as each challenge is different we include the following special rules and clarifications.
  • All entries should contain the file RACHAL_Impossible_<initials>.jpg containing a picture of your entry. <Initials> should be the submitters initials. If submitting multiple entries please append a number to the initials eg. RACHAL_Impossible_tg1.jpg, RACHAL_Impossible_tg2.jpg etc. PNG format is also acceptable.
  • It is very much preferred if all entrants also submit a file RACHAL_Impossible_Files_<initials>.zip containing files that can be used to recreate the scene (see the main rules for details).

Recipient 2007
