Gender:
Male
Location:

History with LDraw:
James began to be involved in the LDraw community building the LDraw for Macintosh Community (LDMC), which lasted a few years, and ended when a Macintosh LDraw editor was released. Since that time, he has been worked with developers to improve the Macintosh editors and to port Linux versions of LDraw utilities to Mac OS X. He has built a few GUI wrappers around those utilities, notably L3P Launcher. He also manages a basic LDraw model repository, until an official repository is created.
Related interests:
From the moment James saw LDraw around 1996 he has been interested in making animations and has made several efforts to make an LDraw based animation system before deciding to stick with proven tools like POV-Ray. He currently converts LDraw models to POV-Ray using Anton Raves' converter and makes animations. His longest (to date) was shown on G4TechTV's The Screen Savers (video). With POV-Ray, he has developed a minifig walk system, an inverse kinetic system to walk mechs, and an explosion system for spacecraft.
James has written a few tutorials showing how to animate using POV-Ray, and also showing how to model in LDraw so that the models can be animated, as James finds he doesn't have the time to create all the models he needs for the animations he wants to build, which is also one reason why he created the LDraw model repository.
